The ‘Miss World Pageant’ is unquestionably more than just a beauty contest. It is indisputably and indubitably more than just beautiful women competing for a crown. The pageant aids and advances the development and growth of the individuals’ skills, self-esteem and affords a greater sense of merit for the nation's young women.

Last year’s competition fostered the growth of two of the Caribbean’s finest who came out on top of their country’s division. Terri-Karelle Griffith emerged out of Jamaica and won the 2005 ‘Miss Jamaica World’ title, while Jenna-Marie Andre surfaced and made her nation proud having won the ‘Miss Trinidad and Tobago World’ title. Both women epitomize success. Both women symbolize beauty. Both women denote true Caribbean characteristics of determinism and longevity.

April 19th of 1982 must have been the year where the stars from the east and west met, as vivacity, beauty, intelligence and pure talent came into existence. Born a bubbly ten pounder, Terri-Karelle Griffith was an effervescent dignitary sure to shine.

Regretting the unfortunate nature of having to be an only child, Terri is constantly on her quest of trying to persuade her mother to give her a little brother or sister, or even both, so that her kind-heartedness and warm personality may be shared. This is not entirely bad for the fans of Terri-Karelle. Imagine having another budding character from the family that proves to be so diversely talented and beautiful.

In her advent of cementing the infrastructure of her education, she enrolled at Campion College where she got her qualifications with excellence that many should strive towards. Proving that strong leadership qualities have always been her forte, Terri served as Deputy Head girl during her time.

She is currently in her fourth year at La Universidad Central de Las Villas in Cuba, where she studying Veterinary medicine. She proudly told Buzzz, “Yes, I’ll soon be back in Cuba with my chickens, goats and my cows.” Her future as a veterinarian is not surprising, as Terri used to volunteer as a veterinary assistant on Saturdays at the JSPCA (Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

Sadly though, is the unfortunate situation that her qualification for her studies is not recognized here in Jamaica. As a result, she is steadfastly on her mission of getting accredited so that she can make her return trip back home.

Emerging from the calypsonian country of Trinidad and Tobago, Jenna-Marie Andre, like her music, is fast paced and a thrill to listen to. The 5’10 statuesque has an animated and eclectic personality to be envied, where she becomes of the emblem of the unique amalgamate of both beauty and brains.

Coming from a large family must have contributed to Jenna’s outspoken nature and vivacious character. She has two sisters, five brothers’ family unit. Unfortunately, one of Jenna’s brother was later deceased but with the comfort and strength of kin, she and her family was able to surpass the excruciating pain.

Born May 12th of 1983, this southern Belle was made to take the world by storm with dynamic fortitude that has cast-ironed her to a large extent much success.

Due to her effervescent personality, Jenna-Marie Andre was crowned Miss Trinidad and Tobago World. The fizzy haired beauty had a special charm, magnetism and appeal that helped to captivate the millions of fans who cheered her head-on in the competition.
Asserting that love of culture was one the main reasons for her entering the competition, Trinidad must be proud to have produced such burgeoning moral fibre, “I really think representing your country in anything, gives an individual one of the greatest feelings in the world; a sense of national pride comes over you when you know you’ve done your best and you have an entire nation backing you.”

Jenna-Marie has indeed represented her country well with vast intelligence, good stature and a signature smile that brightens the room at her every entrance. It therefore came as no surprise that she was crown Miss Caribbean Warmth (Miss Congeniality) in the local competition. In the international competition, she was placed third in the talent segment for musical instrument, where she had performed Celine Dion’s hit single, ‘My Heart Will Go On’. Not only did she prove to be a talented songbird, but she also proved to be a stunning phoenix, where she made it to the top fifteen of the swimwear segment.
