Stars on the Rise
I was born an artiste – it’s in my blood”. With these words spoken, Martin X is definitely a star on the rise. With consciousness at the fore and talent as his foundation, Martin X is sure to make it big in the music industry.
Born Martin Kerr, this thirty-three year old maintains that football and music were his favourite hobbies; but at age fourteen, he decided to take his career a step further and dedicate his life to music, which he claims is “hardcore music, straight consciousness and reggae.”
Sawandi Simon
Sawandi Simon’s inexplicable love for music knew no borders, and even the security of a prestigious medical career couldn’t contain the immense love he had for music.
Having graduated from the University of West Indies in 2002, Sawandi Simon has been working at health centres and has an evening job at the University of Technology in advancement of his medical career. However, it is his love for music that is allowing him to transcend all conventional barriers. “Always had the interest in music, but as I got older, my interest in music changed from fascination to almost an obsession,” Sawandi exclaimed.
Although ostensibly introverted in person, this musical genius is the master of the keyboards. He justly told Buzzz, “I play mostly keyboards, and I do a lot of sampling.” Expressing his diversity, the melodious mastermind continued, “I basically manipulate sounds, synthesize computer soft-wares. I also have the basic knowledge in pianos.”

It's Girls' Rush Mondays!!
Ever since the birth of ZIP 103FM in June 2002, women have been at the forefront of this pulsating and energetic radio station. The Female Zip Jocks or “Jocketts” as they are affectionately referred to, always manage to shock the listeners with the fact that they are actually spinning for themselves. There is now an entire day dedicated to the female Jocks called “Girls’ Rush Mondays”. However, this is not their first attempt to pay homage to women in the entertainment industry. Initially, Wednesdays were dedicated to female entertainers - a pioneering effort to give greater recognition to Jamaican female DJ’s and singers.
With that under their belt, it is now time to showcase the female Zip Jocks - Venus, Elektra, Nicky Z and Rose.
