The Christmas holiday is one of the best times for us to celebrate life...and my, how we celebrate! We eat, we drink, we indulge, and then we end up feeling like bloated pigs by the time it's all over. It's almost as though a voice announces: "Let the real eating begin, and let exercise be our New Year’s resolution!" This year, you have a choice. You don't have to over indulge at every party, and you can let Christmas shopping take the place of your usual exercise routine. All you need is a little creativity towards your exercise.

It's so easy to forget exercise as you get ready for holiday preparations, parties and family gatherings, but this is the time that you really need to make sure you exercise

Exercise will help you keep off the added Christmas pounds, deal with added stress and give you the energy you are going to need to keep up with all the festivities.

Scientists in North America and Europe are now convinced that there are foods that, if eaten on a strict diet, can actually slow the ageing process. Dieticians, herbal specialists, and even some vegetarians, also agree on this theory.
As a general guideline, the best possible diet to maintain a fresh, healthy, youthful appearance, involves keeping your calorie and saturated fat intake at a minimum, eating plenty of wholegrain, oily fish, fresh fruits and vegetables, and cutting down on your salt and sugar intake.
In addition to these general guidelines, the following are the specific foods that are now said to have a role in the anti-ageing process, if they are regularly included in your diet:
Avocado: This fruit, which is usually eaten as a vegetable, is a good source of healthy monounsaturated fat, which may help to reduce levels of a bad type of cholesterol in the body. Avocado is a good source of vitamin E; it also helps to maintain a healthy skin and prevent skin ageing (vitamin E may also help alleviate menopausal hot flushes). It is rich in potassium, which helps to prevent fluid retention and high blood pressure.
Berries: All black and blue berries, such as blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and black grapes, contain chemicals known as flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants which help to protect the body against damage caused by free radicals and ageing.
Cruciferous vegetables: The family of cruciferous vegetables include cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, turnip, brussels sprouts, radish, pak choi and watercress. Cruciferous vegetables assist the body in its fight against toxins and cancer. You should try to consume at.....
