Co-founder and president of VP Records, Patricia Chin was recently presented with Jamaican National Honors' The Order of Disctintion medal for her pioneering contribution to education and community activities through music and culture both in the USA and Jamaica. This award came on the heels of another award she received this year at the Jamaican Independence Ball held in New York City in August 2006, where she was one of eight Jamaican-Americans who were acknowledged for the professional achievements and exemplary community service.
           Following this year's ball theme "And Still We Rise," Mrs Patricia Chin proves that we can overcome all obstacles; and in turn positively impact our culture.
           Consul General Dr. Bryan presented the Consul General Independence Award and recognized Ms. Pat's years of dedication and success for over forty years of sterling work to the Jamaican community and the world of reggae music.
               Not bad for a little Jamaican girl with roots in Greenwich and Vineyard Towns, who started out along with her late husband selling discarded .....
