Title: The Truth About Myra
Author: Alex Morgan
Reviwer: Nicola Cunningham

If you haven't guessed it before, I am a big fan of Alex Morgan's work. With just three published novels to his credit, this young man is steadily building a serious cult following with his literary work.

The reason for this is simple. Morgan's stories are realistic, his characters are believable and his plots do not unfold like something out of a bad science fiction movie. There are no one-dimensional beings in his tales and with each new person introduced, the reader can say "Oh yes, I know someone just like that". This makes for not only interesting reading but a sure fire page-turner, as no one is inherently evil and no angel maintains a blemish free halo.

His latest work - The Truth About Myra - tells the story of a disillusioned teacher named Edward Edwards and his near obsession with his wife Myra. The title character is a simple yet sexy woman who is blessed with a 'Coca Cola bottle shape' and the belief that less is more in terms of clothing.

Title: The Measure of A Man: A Spiritual Autobiography
Author: Sydbey Poitier
Reviwer: Nicola Cunningham

Compelling, inspiring, racially poignant, truly spiritual and magically nostalgic, the memoir of the black film icon Sydney Poitier is worthy of the highest praise.

The Measure of A Man: A spiritual Autobiography is an appropriate title for the life story of a man who has endured inordinate encounters with failure, disappointment, poverty and racism. His triumph over these adversities without compromise is also the story of the "American Dream" beautifully told tale of sacrifice and resilience in realising great ambitions.

Sydney Poitier was raised in little house on Cat Island in the Bahamas, where he cultivated a daredevil spirit that was tempered with nurture and love from his parents and siblings, especially his sister. When he and his family moved to the capital city Nassau, he became exposed to racism for the first time.
