Long Distance Relationships:
Can The Love Survive?

Relationships require a lot of work
under normal circumstances, so it is quite obvious that a long distance relationship is not for the faint of heart. It's also not for people with empty pockets for that matter, as it often requires couples to spend a lot of money in order to spend time
together.

Joseph Cunningham, a musician, has been with his girlfriend for four and half years. He met her while working overseas. After completing his job there, he moved back home to Jamaica while his girlfriend went back home to the United States.

"There's no control when it comes to a long distant relationship…you just fall in love with someone who doesn't live around you," stated Joseph.

Flirting or True Attraction?

Are we truly attracted to the people we flirt with or do we flirt just for the sake of flirting? Before we go into a long debate on the difference between flirting and true attraction, let's see if we can at least
identify each of them.

According to Webster's Dictionary, flirting refers to amorous behaviour without serious intent and true attraction speaks to a genuine liking for someone who holds a particular appeal and interest. In my humble opinion, the practice of flirting is very healthy and common, as evidenced by the
multitude of persons who indulge in it daily.

not as simple as black and white

"But if your thinking 'bout my baby it don't matter if your black or white" - Micheal Jackson

This line has been repeated the world over by throngs of Michael Jackson supporters. It has resonated through speakers, radios and television sets across the globe. It is, after all, one of the more popular lyrics of the "gloved one".

The world is often described as being "black and white". The simplicity of
this description for two distinct things in this life also affords a peek into the negative racial connotations that are embedded in the deep cracks and creases of our society.
