Wake up to Ron Muschette!
Confident, committed and passionate about radio

If you are the kind of person who sleeps in most mornings, then you're missing out on the experience that is Ron Muschette and his The Wake Up Call programme on IRIE FM.

With his playful rapping introduction, he is like freshly squeezed orange juice or a perfectly brewed cup of coffee served with the right amount of food to get your day off to an excellent start. And you get all this just by hearing his voice over the radio!

He has ten years in the radio business under his belt and has a significant number of fans reaching for the radio dial first thing in the morning before doing anything else. His first real radio presenting experience came on an in-house radio station, WSMB, while working as an entertainment coordinator at the Sandals Montego Bay hotel. The same confidence, commitment and passion that he showed back then is still very much a feature of the man today and listeners get a rush off the positive vibes that he radiates.

Born in Westmoreland, Ron remembers the first nine years of his life by the seaside in a fishing community. He lived with his mother and family before moving to Montego Bay with his older brother Wendel 'Bob' Toote.

Through his brother Bob, Ron discovered his love for music. He noted that Bob was a "real romantic and music lover who would sing his heart out" while he listened to his large collection of R&B tunes. Ron absorbed this, and his love of music naturally progressed into a love for radio.

Ron would like to think that his work in radio started at the age of 10, when he allowed his imagination to really run free with the medium. He admittedly began to fool around with people's radios and used them as his own personal radio station. In addition to harbouring ambitions in the field of radio broadcasting, Ron also had a strong interest in becoming a pilot - a dream that he has not abandoned and still mentions on his morning show.

Gary Dixon –
The Man behind the Magnum brand

If you’ve been using your youth as a crutch for underachieving, then stop reading right here because you might become envious. On second thought, read on and allow Gary Dixon to become your muse.

Gary, Magnum Tonic Wine’s Brand Manager at Lascelles Wines and Spirits, is only 30 years old and has an immense passion for his job and life. It’s this same passion for success that landed him at the top of his marketing class at the University of Technology (UTECH), although he lived two parishes away. His diligence and verve paid dividends when he landed the job at Lascelles later on. For Gary, these remain his greatest achievements to date.

“Graduating at the top of the class was a lot of hard work. I had to work in Mandeville and drive to school in Kingston and at the end of the program, to know that you came out on top despite the obstacles, it’s a rewarding feeling,” he said.

Gary, who has been with the Magnum team for two years, was quick to point out that despite having only formal training in marketing, he was recommended by the Human Resource and Marketing Managers for the position he now holds.

“At first, I think they were sceptical because although I had graduated at top of my class, I had no formal brand management training. My diploma was in marketing, but they were impressed with the interview and decided to give me a try…I don’t think they have regretted it,” he said with a laugh.

Over the years, Gary has overseen a number of Magnum-sponsored events, including ‘Follow the Arrow’, ‘Christmas Extravaganza’ and ‘Bembe Thursdays’, among others.
