The new 2006 RAV 4 being unveiled by John Connel (L), Managing Director of Toyota Jamaica, while Hideo Matsuura (R) and Hon. Phillip Paulwell looks on at their Spanish Town Road office.
Love was in the air, or rather on the ground, as Toyota Jamaica Limited unveiled their all-new 2006 Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicle. Car-lovers and others turned out to get first glance of the dealer's newest line for 2006 at a spectacular reception held at their 427 Spanish Town Road showroom.

The period November to January is usually the best time to check the market for new or used car purchases, as last quarter of the year discounts on new and pre-owned vehicles from dealers are usually matched by Christmas specials from financial institutions offering lower interest rates with longer repayment time. Dealers are again likely to offer major discounts with attractive incentives in the New Year, as they try to clear old stock to bring in the latest make and model vehicles. Dealers in pre-owned vehicles are faced with a similar situation since their vehicles are, for all intents and purposes, also a year older.

Which option is the better deal? In a bid to provide readers with the facts necessary to make an informed choice, Buzzz spoke with Kent LaCroix, Chairman of the Automobile Dealers Association of Jamaica Ltd and Kenneth Shaw, President of the Used Car Dealers Association. LaCroix’s association is comprised of 22 certified new car new dealers, while Shaw represents 130 Government-certified dealers who trade in pre-owned vehicles. We also got some feedback from Cleon Haughton, processing manager of the COK Co-operative Credit Union, one of the largest financial institutions of its kind, in the region.
