Jamaican is Wesley Snipes look-alike

Heads turn whenever Lennox ‘Buppy’ Brown walks the streets of Los Angeles, California, as the Jamaican who hails from Portland is oftentimes mistaken for popular US-based actor Wesley Snipes.

Face to face I jokingly asked Buppy if he believes he resembles the dashing American actor. He chuckled before responding in true Jamaican style, “Dat’s wha people say.”

There’s no mistaking: Buppy bears an uncanny resemblance to Snipes. The picture on his latest album is testimony of a fact verified by film director, Tony Scott who cast the Vauxhall Secondary and Camperdown High school past student as Wesley Snipes’ photo and body double.

Buppy learnt the rudiment of being a disc jockey at his father’s promoted dances as a child in Jamaica. He was a saxophone player with a number of bands, including 7th Extension and Tommy McCook & the Supersonics.

Fresh out of school, in 1984, Buppy found employment on the Carnival Cruise line where among his seaman duties were standing-in as a relief disc jock. After two years however, and on a two-week shore leave at his sister’s place in California, Brown contemplated his future....
