Mark
Spy Robinsons daily grind
takes him into the skies, cruising at an altitude
of 39,000 feet, while at the same time harnessing
fifty thousand pounds of thrust. What would
you expect him to drive when he happens to be
on the ground with the rest of us? With race
gas pumping through his veins, his current car
is true to character. Tweety, the name given
to this car, is a 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
VII.
The stock turbo-charged, 4G63 engine in this
car, generates in stock trim, 276 horsepower
at 6500 rpms. Redline in this rally derivative
is 7000 rpm. If I had the resources I would
have one parked in a dust free, perfumed garage.
So what makes Tweety so special? Tweety belongs
to Spy, and based on Tweetys track record
of 276 horsepower, he will not produce the quick
times he is accustomed to on the drag strip.
Being a qualified aviation mechanic helps when
you plan to rip apart the Japanese speed shrine
and create your own. Tweetys internals
were removed and replaced with a 2.3 liter stroker
kit which included Pauter rods and CP pistons.
