In a culture where being curvy is appealing, many women aim to keep fit and in shape. There are those however who face many health
challenges on a daily basis; one such is being overweight. Think about it this way, trying to stay healthy and fit, feels like a long endless journey, without a precise destination in mind. Frequently plus-sized women complain about their challenges with dieting and exercise. Voluptuous women may be overly self-conscious which makes exercising difficult. Common complaints that women have attached to weight loss are: being stressed, having no time for exercise, exercise being painful and the greatest challenge of them all is having no little determination.
Lisa Barrett*, a 23-year-old bank employee speaks about her challenges to weight loss, which are: the expense of dieting, lack of time and lack of energy to exercise. Women who are overweight tend to go about dieting in the wrong manner, which in itself causes more issues and prevents weight loss. The UCLA Research Board reported, in a study, that two-thirds of women complain that they lose up to 5-10 pounds after dieting, but gained twice as much right after. Sounds familiar right? But who says you can’t be a plus-size woman, sexy while
keeping fit and healthy at the same time`?
