Barbados –
Island of Mystique

It wouldn't be fair to classify Barbados as 'any' island; it could easily be called the best in the Caribbean - well, that is if Jamaica didn't exist. The island's visibly lush colonial history lends mystique to its already surreal ambience, rich in beauty and steeped in culture.
It's not hard to fall in love with the island: the sting of the Bajan dialect heard all around encourages intrigue and as a bonus, the locals are always happy to share bits of their culture with you. Let's just say, if you have time to spare, they have time to share.
The more time you spend with Bajans, the more obvious it becomes that their helpful and laidback spirit is a true reflection of the country itself. Even while walking through the crowded Swan Street - the island's version of Downtown Kingston, Jamaica - it feels like a leisure stroll; it's strange, but there is no hustle and bustle. However, all that walking through downtown Bridgetown, (the island's capital), can be quite tiring, but you need not worry - the beach is always less than fifteen minutes away to press, push and prod away your aches.
