Living With Vitiligo
Almost every woman dreams of having flawless, evenly-toned skin – the kind you can flaunt on the beach in your skimpiest bikini. For Jennifer Farr, this kind of skin tone was a reality. While growing up, she would receive compliments from others about how vibrant her complexion was. But a few years ago, this changed when Jennifer developed a skin disorder known as vitiligo.
Vitiligo is a condition in which the skin loses its pigmentation, causing white patches. In 1995, Jennifer noticed the first tiny white spot on her neck, after the birth of her first child, Ashleigh, now 12 years old. Her doctor gave her a cream, which she used, and the spot disappeared within a few days. About a year later, another spot appeared on her finger.
