Why do good girls fall for bad boys?

Your mother cannot stand to see you with him. Your friends think he’s a loser and you have reason to suspect that he may be a deportee or at least have a criminal record. Yet, with all these strikes against him, you just cannot say goodbye to your little thug boyfriend, the one with the sexy bow legs and full, thick lips.

What keeps you hanging on when every cell in your brain, family members, close friends and even your cheque book tell you that you are making the biggest mistake of your life? What exactly makes seemingly level-headed females shed all sense of logic and reason in the area of love and romance and hook up with men who are notorious cheaters, womanisers or simply damn “wutliss”.

‘Unbe-weavable!’ –
Can hair extensions ‘weave’ a love spell on a man?

To weave or not to weave, that is the question. While some men put character and personality above “superficial” considerations such as a woman’s hairdo, others take a stronger view on the subject. They are adamant in their preference of the more natural look, as false hair is often equated with a false personality.

And by natural hair, they do not necessarily mean unprocessed hair. They just desire a woman whose mane is not held in place by superglue or brought at the local wholesale in colours “four” or “twenty-six” blend with Kanikolon stamped at the top of it!

Club Drugs –
The New Threat

They are the new fuel for nights of endless dancing - the "life of the party" as some would put it. This cocktail of sensuous stimulants adds colour to any and everything. Throw in a blanketed but serious dimension of danger and you have the latest craze to hit the party scene – club drugs.

Today's stimulants have evolved beyond the “regular” marijuana, alcohol or tobacco, and have taken on a whole new element with the advent of these substances. Also referred to as “controlled substances”, these are not your regular M&Ms, and despite their appearance of innocence and harmlessness, club drugs are extremely dangerous and illegal.

Marvin Fishley –
Strong Voice, Serene Spirit

The quote “walk softly and carry a big stick” is attributed to famous United States President, Theodore Roosevelt. In the case of 2007 Tastee Talent Trail winner, Marvin Fishley, it could well be said of him that he walks softly but packs a big, powerful voice.

Born 24 years ago in Cart Pass, Watermount District, St. Catherine, Marvin Fishley had no voice to speak of (pun intended) as he entered his teens. He recalls asking the moderator at church service to allow him to sing a song when he was just 13-years-old. Young Fishley, pumped at getting his chance, fell flat on his face, as he could not finish even the first verse of the song. The quick thinking moderator came to his assistance and, along with the congregation, finished the song for the trembling youngster.

Jason Mighty –
Winning Souls With Reggae Gospel

By the warm glow of a candle at a poolside setting, Jason Mighty bowed his head and said a prayer before his interview for this article. It’s evident that for this young reggae gospel artist, God is the centre of whatever he does.

“My life is not for me, but for Jesus,” he hastily said, as the light from the candle softly illuminated his face. It was only seven years ago, at age 20, that Jason gave his life to Christ, after he realised that he could not walk the road of existence alone.
