Meet the McHughs –
Entrepreneurs on the go
Do the names Robert and Patrice McHugh sound familiar to you? If you have heard of either Bars to Go or Gourmet to Go, then you are aware of the McHugh’s creative business pursuit in quality services for parties and events.
Their personal relationship started 13 years ago, when they met through a mutual friend. When you find a couple who own a business together, the intrigue of their personal journey as a couple lends itself to life’s entanglements and supports the principle of fate bringing people together for a specific purpose. This is even more so if you are of the idealistic fairy-tale persuasion. After all, it’s nice to think of it as a fated occurrence, especially with the immense success of their enterprise.
Patrice, originally from Spanish Town, came to Kingston and met Robert. As fate would have it, she moved next door to Robert. Now, they have a five-year-old daughter named Makayla, and they have established impressive niche for themselves in the party/event industry.
Perhaps the best way to describe their union is by using the adage “opposites attract”. Robert, the quieter of the two, says that he takes longer to make up his mind when it comes to decisions and is a self-proclaimed procrastinator. However, he hastens to add that he is not afraid of the hard decisions. Patrice, on the other hand, has a ready-set-go personality and describes herself as a “go-getter, aggressive and the spur of the moment type”.
