Thin Is In!

There’s no denying that in the world of consumer electronics, size does matter. As far as portability goes, the shrinking dimensions of many of our favourite gadgets and appliances constitute an important design element that is clearly driving the innovation agenda of technology today.

However, this goes way beyond the big versus small issue. It’s no longer acceptable for the technology to be more compact in terms of surface area alone (where appropriate). Ladies and gentlemen, similar to the scenario on the catwalks of major fashion capitals across the world, thin is definitely in when it comes to popular technology tools.


If you’re the proud owner of an Apple iPod Nano, then you’ll most likely know that there’s no thinner MP3 player on the market. The third generation model is 2.75 inches wide, 2.06 inches tall and 0.26 inches thick. Apple is also trying very hard to stave off the competition in the thin laptop department with the uber-stylish, ultra-thin MacBook Air (0.76 inches thick).
