Marijuana

Medical Wonder or Harmful Drug?
Textbooks define cannabis sativa aka marijuana as a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant. The layman knows it as the ‘weed’ you crush, then roll and smoke to give you that ‘high’, meditation. There are more than 200 slang terms for marijuana, but across the region, you will most popularly hear it referred to as weed, herb, high-grade or ganja.
We see marijuana most often rolled in rizzla paper and smoked as a cigarette or inhaled directly from a chillum pipe or ‘chalice’. Recently, it has appeared in cigars called blunts, and some persons in the Caribbean even use the leaves to steep tea.
For centuries, in countries such as India and Nepal, cannabis has been used by some of the wandering Hindu spiritual ‘sadhus’, where the herb was called ganjika in Sanskrit (ganja in modern Indic languages), and in modern times the Rastafari movement has embraced it as a sacrament. In fact, most persons probably identify marijuana first as a symbol in Rastafarianism, before even considering it a drug or medicinal herb.

They demand special attention, and should be kept clean, and well-groomed, with a regular care regimen to maintain their strength.
