Abar Restaurant & Lounge

Abar Restaurant & Lounge Abar Restaurant & Lounge

Abar is smack in Springs Plaza on Constant Spring Road – quite an uncommon but convenient location. The tinted glass doors conceal an organized play area for all and sundry. The guise that is associated with Abar’s exterior and interior is known as the ‘wow factor’ according to Kevin Francis, general manager of the dynamic dining and entertainment spot. “People don’t know what to expect when they enter through the doors of our establishment.” The restaurant is separated into a main dining area and a lounge bordering the East and West walls that all have television monitors tuned into the highlighting programmes of the season, from reality TV to sporting events. The restaurant opens midday to midnight for most of the week but will open later on weekends and from 4 pm to 11 pm on Sundays.

Originally, Abar has seating for 115 persons but undergoes a transformation from a diner to a club that holds 400 persons when utilized for events. “Our restaurant is not limited to sports, dining and drinking, it is a chill spot – ‘a place where friends unite’.” Not only does Abar unite friends, it brings together cultures.

The menu is a combination of both local and international dishes that hints a marriage of culinary origins of foods, spices and aromas. The Abar chef puts a twist even on wings, strawberry buffalo and cherry mustard are two of the most saccharine yet spicy sauce choices. Similarly, the creamy sauce used to prepare the jerk chicken pasta adds an intriguing zest to the dish.

The cocktails are also as creative as the main dishes; Rainbow Touch, Blu-Reo Crush and Green Licorice are a few of the must-haves. These sweet mixes are enough to tempt the resolute non-drinker – as the liqueurs mask the strength of the alcoholic ingredients.

The restaurant is almost two years old but has managed to build popularity through the word of mouth of customers and social media. “We take pride in utilizing social media,” reinforced Francis. In fact, not a day goes by without seeing at least five posts on the restaurant’s social pages.
